There is Millions in the Follow-Up

If you've spent any amount of time in the marketing world, you have probably heard of the Rule of 7.

Oh you haven't? Let me fill you in.

The Marketing Rule of 7 states that a prospect needs to “hear” the advertiser’s message at least 7 times before they’ll take action to buy that product or service.

Let's just say that this rule is true. Hit your target customer with your message 7 times and BOOM they are a customer. Sounds relatively easy right? Wrong.

More often than not, the "message" that a business puts out about their product or service is too similar to their competition. The customer can't notice the difference. This means that lucky number 7 increases. And guess what...as that number increases, so does your cost to acquire a customer. Do this poorly enough, and you're losing money.

While we're on this topic, that isn't the only problem. You see, marketing doesn't end when you get a sale...it starts. Why would you work so hard to get a customer, and then not groom them and give them attention to KEEP them as a customer. 

Reaching out to them (email, chatbots, etc.) are now FREE. They are now traffic that you OWN. You can make sales from FREE email campaigns. Utilize your list or pay the price.

What should you give the most attention to? Things that you own or things that you don't own?

The answer is pretty clear. 

1) Marketing is competitive so your message better stand out.
2) Nurture your customers or you will eventually lose them.
